MPCA/ACA Competitive Paper Awards
The Midwest Popular Culture / American Culture Association welcomes submissions for its inaugural conference paper competition. The awards are categorized by chronological time frame. Deadline for entry is September 1 before the conference. Papers should be sent to the appropriate email address below.
Contemporary Popular Culture (1900-Present)
Competitive papers should range between 15-25 pages of double-spaced text in 12 pt. Times New Roman font, including all images, endnotes, and Works Cited pages. Papers should be written in clear US English in the active voice and in a style accessible to the broadest possible audience.
For documentation, follow the Modern Language Association style, which calls for a Works Cited list, with parenthetical author/page references in the text. This approach reduces the number of notes, which provide further references or explanation.
On the title page (separate from the remainder of the document) include the name(s) of author(s), institutional affiliation(s), and contact information. All author references must be removed from the text of the paper. In addition, author(s) are required to state the category that they are entering. For papers that cross boundaries, one should use his or her best judgment regarding the overall thesis of the paper and its contribution to popular culture studies.
